Turning Point

for wind ensemble

In progress — anticipated completion late November 2026

Open recording

Program Note

The Turning Point explores the moment when a life, like a nation, can no longer continue on the same path.

Written for the Skidmore Concert Band in recognition of the 250th anniversary of the Battles of Saratoga, the work reflects on Saratoga’s place as the turning point of the American Revolution while also considering the private turning points that shape individual lives: moments of crisis, decision, loss, courage, and transformation.

Rather than simply depicting a battlefield, the music asks what it means to stand at the edge of change — when the future is uncertain, the old world has begun to fall away, and a new direction has not yet fully revealed itself.
